Rip Rap Causeway

$40.00

When railroad builders wanted to build over a low spot, but didn’t want to pay for an expensive bridge, they would simply build a fill instead, using the rock and soil excavated elsewhere along the line. To protect the fill from erosion, they would place interlocking large rocks along the edge of the embankment. This material is called rip rap. Modeling this using ordinary techniques is quite time consuming, since each stone needs to be placed individually to fit in with the others and lock into position.

But you don’t have to do it that way. Now you can use our Rip Rap causeway and complete the job in minutes instead of hours!

Dimensions are 21 inches long by 3 inches tall by 3 inches across.

NOTE:  This causeway is not intended to support the weight of the track and train. Rather, it’s intended as a scenery blanket to cover track that has been placed using whatever construction technique you use on the rest of the layout.
